Gibson's Plaice Gibson's Plaice fishmongers - Magdalen Road, Exeter

Gibsons Plaice Fishmongers - Established 1992

We are Exeter's premier quality fishmonger. Since 1992 we have been providing award winning fresh fish to the people of Devon.

We are listed in the Guardian's Ultimate Guide to Britain's Finest Independent Shops and Suppliers.
Winners of the Devon Life Fishmonger of the year award in 2007 and 2009.

Predominantly we buy 95% of our local sea fish from Brixham fish market, arguably the best fish market in the UK. The owner of the shop personally attends the market and buys direct from the fish auction, this ensures the quality and freshness of the fish.
The waters of the south west support a remarkably large and diverse range of fish species. Meaning that before attending the fish auction we never really know what we are going to be buying. This does mean however that what we buy is always seasonal and very fresh.

We try to buy mainly from the smaller day boats, which return daily to Brixham to land their catch; again this ensures the quality of the fish we buy. Whenever possible we have a policy of buying line-caught and sustainable local fish.
Obviously we do not ignore the other west country ports and regularly buy fish from Newlyn and Looe fish markets along with Shellfish from Exmouth and Dartmouth.

We source our salmon from Wester Ross in Scotland, this is a salmon producer who has the full support of the RSPCA and has a Freedom Food classification.

We offer free home deliveries throughout Exeter and the surrounding villages and there is also free parking in Magdalen Road.
